Cottage Well _ Covering & Decking
Commissioned to reinvigorate an old well at a summer cottage in the middle of Finland to compliment the surrounding nature and buildings and cover up and insulate the concrete foundations of the well.
I spent a few days planning and designing the construction of the well cover, creating blueprints, costing the materials and developing a strategy to construct it.
When the Client was happy with the plans, I spent a few days building the piece. One challenge faced was that the ground around the well was extremely slopped. Calling for some improvisation, to ensure the surrounding decking would be level and secure. The implementation of the plans otherwise went off without a hitch and the family of the cottage are very happy with their new well covering, commenting that the surrounding decking has turned an eyesore into an area they would love to have tea, read a book and relax at during the summer months.
