Partnering with Solstice Festival to create interactive recycling stations, designed to make recycling fun and engaging. In 2022, bins were installed that rewarded participants with drink tokens through a mechanism triggered each time waste was deposited. This added a playful element, encouraging festival goers to be more considerate about their place in the environment. To reduce cigarette butt litter, we distributed pocket ashtrays made from repurposed film canisters and introduced ‘voting ashtrays’ for more interactive disposal.
Additionally, we experimented with recycling festival waste into tiles and bricks, using materials like plastic, sawdust, and sea buckthorn skins to explore sustainable, biodegradable options for future events.
This project was undertaken as a collaborative effort between myself, Caracara Collective, Copeau by Louis and Project RPSD.
